About Us

The Russian Cultural Center, Russian Soul, is a Minnesota-based non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Russian folk culture and art.

Russian Soul was founded in May 2006. The group was initially formed to organize a presence at the Festival of Nations. From there an idea developed to combine the efforts of those who loved Russian culture and art into a more permanent collective.

Since 2006, Russian Soul has reached out to a broader community, organizing and participating in various events. Our message has been presented to more than half a million people through lessons, workshops, exhibitions and performances.

The folk ensemble, Belozer’e, has been steadily gaining popularity, with bookings set a year ahead. Twelve original programs present a wide spectrum of Russian folk songs and dances—from rare 19th century wedding and fortune-telling traditions to modern folklore.

Children’s dance and game studio, Rodnik, creates a safe and fun environment for children ages 5 to 10, who learn the basics of the folk dance steps and language through games. Our little artists perform at the Festival of Nations’ Refugee Day and many other events, showing their artistic skills to thousands of people.

Russian Soul has been granted the 501(c)(3) non-profit status by the Federal government as of 2009.

We are sponsors of the Russian delegation at the Festival of Nations, artists on the roster of COMPAS and Young Audiences of Minnesota, recipients of the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council grant, and collaborators with many cultural and educational organizations in Minnesota.

Russian Soul welcomes everybody regardless of nationality, ethnicity, age, or gender. The only requirement is an interest and love for all things Russian: arts and crafts, language and history, cuisine, movies, and so on.
